Call it a step toward a more sustainable future — or just call it the perfect pair of jeans. Either way, AGOLDE’s latest collection has changed the game for denim producers and consumers around the globe.
This Earth Month, the luxury denim brand debuted a collection of jeans and denim shorts made with bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber, a revolutionary stretch fiber made with plant-based materials such as corn.
Bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber, which will be broadly available later this year, has the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of LYCRA® fiber by up to 44%* while maintaining the quality and performance you expect from LYCRA® brand, making it easier for brands, retailers, and fabric producers to get closer to their sustainability goals. Plus, this fiber requires no changes to the manufacturing process — simply swap out existing spandex fibers for bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber.
“This collaboration marks the first commercial adoption in denim of bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber, a major boon for consumers looking for more sustainable denim options,” said Melissa Riggs, chief marketing officer at The LYCRA Company. “Our partnership with Citizens of Humanity, the parent company of AGOLDE, reflects a shared commitment to more sustainable practices and products across the value chain. We’re ALL IN with our partners for a more eco-friendly future."
The full AGOLDE denim collection is available to shop online now, and textile professionals can see and feel the garments at Kingpins New York in July. Lucky guests got a special look at the collection when AGOLDE and The LYCRA Company hosted a media preview and retail launch event at Bloomingdale’s in New York City on April 22.

DREAMY DENIM, MADE WITH PLANTS
The new AGOLDE collection features two pairs of shorts and four pairs of jeans in contemporary washes and silhouettes, all made with bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber and other sustainable ingredients.
The fabrics, made by Turkish denim producer Orta, a longtime partner of The LYCRA Company, are crafted from regeneratively grown cotton and dyed with Eco-Indigo dye, a color range that’s produced using renewable sugar resources.
"Orta is a leading denim mill that understands and addresses consumer needs through innovative solutions,” said Ebru Pirinccioglu, The LYCRA Company’s commercial director for apparel in the EMEA region. “We are excited to collaborate with Orta to adopt bio-derived LYCRA® EcoMade fiber into their collection, enhancing their sustainable product offerings."
