The Burlington, Vermont based maker of bodywear, intimates, leggings and other best-in-class basics for women quickly produced nearly 7,000 non-medical cotton masks made with LYCRA® fiber.
“I am a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, and they issued a call-to-action, urging all members who had the ability to produce masks to do so. We were eager to use our domestic supply chain and manufacturing resources to help meet this urgent need.”
Based on interest from online shoppers who shared feedback on the Commando site, the company decided to offer masks for sale in early May with a “buy one/give one” charitable component.
“Our surveys revealed a tremendous appetite for washable masks, given lingering uncertainty both about the availability of masks and how long we will need to wear them in public. Commando is known for comfort and fit, which topped the list of what consumers want in a reusable, non-medical mask, so we saw an opportunity to answer the call.”
Face masks powered by LYCRA® fiber
The “Made in the USA” masks feature an up-cycled Italian microfiber outer layer and double-faced European microfiber and cotton blend lining. A flexible nose bridge and four-way stretch and recovery properties provide optimal, all-day fit.
Commando is selling the masks in pairs: one black and one featuring a fashionable pattern. For every mask sold online, Commando will donate one to the United Way. All are made in the USA.
