The challenge:
Hosiery and socks made with standard spandex (elastane) very often do not true to size when laid out on a department store counter direct out of the package. In addition, sock can shrink after washing, which can lead to poor fit or uncomfortable to wear. Either situation can result in a lost sale or dissatisfied consumer.
The solution:
LYCRA® STEAM-SETTABLE technology has been developed for legwear applications that require greater steam-settability than standard spandex. Hosiery and socks can be steam-boarded into shape for an aesthetically pleasing and more life-size layout. This technology is based on two innovative fiber types: LYCRA® 179C fiber is used as a plating yarn for socks, and LYCRA® 3D technology features LYCRA® fiber 188C knitted into every course, which is ideal for luxury hosiery.
